The world is in flux. You can never step into the same river twice. These sayings are reminiscent of Whitehead, who says, “the very essence of real actuality—that is, of the completely real—is process” (Adventures of Ideas 274). Certainly most of you reading Process Perspectives are well aware of these basic process principles. But the inevitably of change does not entail that change is easy or painless. After all, as Whitehead continues, “Thus each actual thing is only to be understood in terms of its becoming and perishing” (AI 274).
