Abstract

"Process hermeneutics," developed out of Whitehead's theory of perception, recognizes that interpretation includes both a cognitive/receptive and an imaginative/creative aspect.  It embraces "metaphysical criticism" as well as historical and literary methods of criticism.  "Creative transformation" provides the terms for describing what is normative in scripture for process theology and how process theology attends to scripture.  [Abstract from The Philosopher's Index]
