Abstract

A rational basis for the belief in Christian resurrection is sought in Whitehead's conception of living person.  I argue that (1) the living person can be immortal apart from his/her first body; (2) the living person can develop a relationship to another bodily reality which is analogous to the first relationship between person and body.  This new relationship is between person and a society of persons; (3) Jesus is risen in a manner which is consistent with the above because of his present relationship to the church, and is the primary cause of our own resurrection as Christians.  [Abstract from The Philosopher's Index]
