Abstract
This work is a translation of Chapter 3.3 of Fetz's 'Whitehead: Porzessdenken und Substanzmetaphysik' (Freiburg/Munchen, Alber: 1981). Fetz argues against Whitehead's reduction of all natural beings, including human beings, to societies of multiple micro-entities rather than interpreting them as natural unities. Whitehead's system should be open to reconceiving the 'actual entity' to encompass the whole human being, for the latter in fact served Whitehead as a conceptual model for the structure of the actual entity. Such a reconstruction of his system would give it a better claim to be a philosophy of 'organism'. [Abstract from The Philosopher's Index]
