Abstract

Process thought entered the life of the author through a conflict he experienced between science and religion.  The resolution began with Whitehead's "Science and the Modern World" and Agar's "Contribution to the Theory of the Living Organism".  Experience in the Chicago School of the '40's led to a deeper understanding which has informed his science and religion ever since.  The omnipotent God of classical theism became replaced with the persuasive God of process theology who works upon a creation that itself has its own creativity and self-determination.  [Abstract from The philosopher's Index]
