Abstract

A brief critique of the attempt, on the part of "process philosophy" (using Hartshorne as exemplar), to account for personal identity.  The main criticism centers on the use of memory as a criterion for explaining personal identity.  The argument is that memory is impossible unless one "presupposes" personal identity.  Personal identity is not a function of memory, but rather memory a function of personal identity.  [Abstract from The Philosopher's Index]
