Abstract
The adequacy of a philosophical scheme, according to Whitehead, lies in its ability to interpret all items of experience. Can Whitehead's own scheme interpret the religious intuition of those Latin American Christians who believe themselves called by God to revolution? It is argued that acts of justice are in much of the biblical texts the distinguishing characteristic of the true God, and that nothing hinders the affirmation that such a God should call persons in a class society to revolution. It is argued that Whitehead's God, whose concern is the self-realization of occasions of experience and who has no concerns for society as such, can only be made relevant to this religious intuition by giving a status to human occasions of experience which Whitehead himself was reluctant to do.
