Abstract

The article is a comparative study of God and the category of the universal in Indian religious literature and the philosophy of A. N. whitehead.  The thought of the twelfth century philosopher, Ramanuja, guides the use of the Indian materials.  It is suggested that Whitehead's ontology may provide a means for adequately relating Indian and Western thought.  Additionally, his philosophy offers solutions to specific difficulties in the philosophic systems of Indian theists.  [Abstract from The Philosopher’s Index]
