Abstract

Recent work by relativity physicists has shown that Whitehead's formula for the law of gravitation predicts an anistropy in the gravitational constant.  This article deals with the physics of the disconfirmation as well as the philosophical aspects of the controversy.  I agree that Whitehead's formula has been falsified, but that Whitehead's philosophical objections to Einstein's theory are viable.  The real issues between Einstein and Whitehead are philosophical, not physical.
