Abstract

The central purpose of this essay is to explore the present reality of the past in Whitehead's vision.  In every physical prehension, the past is actually and causally introduced into the present.  Indeed, the whole past is causally present, but most of this is trivial.  I speak of "real presence" where the remote causal past is felt as immediate and efficacious.  This idea is applied to Jesus' presence in the Eucharist.  [Abstract from The Philosopher's Index]
