Cobb, John B., Jr. “The Authority of the Bible.” (Unpubl.)
Abstract
Attempts in modern theology to describe the relation of Christian existence to human existence have largely failed because these attempts have failed to fully acknowledge the historically determined character of human possibilities and have failed to note that there are a plurality of ideal modes of existence rather than a single mode. To hold that one mode is of value to you is not to deny the value of other modes in their own context. Further, the Bible is important to us not only as a norm for Christianity but also as the basic source of the Christian view of reality and existence.
