Abstract
The article sketches the implications of the work of two Hegel-influenced thinkers for a reconsideration of the function of scripture as a source of knowledge: the theologian, Thomas J. Altizer and the philosophical literary critic, Charles Altieri. It then proposes that the "process" framework of A. N. Whitehead offers a more comprehensive approach to the problem of the truth of a canonical scripture in the contemporary world. [Abstract from The Philosopher's Index]
