Takeda, Ryusei. “Creativity and Sunyata. (Whitehead and Mahayana Buddhism).” (Unpubl.)
Abstract
Though Whitehead’s understanding of Buddhism as static was formed in the context of Theravada Buddhism, his concept of creativity as the ultimate reality is similar to Mahayana Buddhist understanding of 'Sunyata' or emptiness. Both are formless and dynamic in nature and can be said to be the ground of form. Both ultimates are characterized as processive, and cannot be reduced to a basic substantial ground.
