Sullivan William. "Whitehead, Professor Hall, and the Limitations of the “Aesthetic Event.” (Unpubl.)
Abstract
Hall's theory of civilization, based on Whitehead's cosmology is inadequate in its treatment of the relationship of technology and society and political and social power. Habermas' critical theory of culture, based on an Hegelian world-view, is more adequate than Hall's theory. If Whiteheadian theories of culture are to be adequate to the present social situation, they must dialogue more with other theories. [Bruce Epperly, 5 Jan. 1979].
