Sperry, R. Willard. “An Objective Approach To Subjective Experience: Further Explanation of A Hypothesis.” Psychological Review 77, no.6 (1970): 585-90.
Abstract
An attempt is made to clarify a hypothesis of consciousness in which the phenomena of subjective experience are conceived to exert a direct causal influence on brain activity. The present article responds to some questions posed by Bindra that arose from a recent statement by Sperry of the concept. The aim is to clarify where possible with material that supplements rather than repeats previous accounts. The hypothesis is compared with other existing theories, and reference is made to a more simplified explanation for non specialists presented five years ago.
