Abstract
Blanshard and Whitehead are two great rationalists of our age. Though both uphold the use of reason as essential both for philosophy and for life, Blanshard restricts reason to the understanding of universal structures of (the Reason of Plato) whereas Whitehead considers both theoretical and practical reason as important. The interplay of both theoretical and practical (the Reason of Ulysses), rather the use of theoretical reason alone is essential for meeting our social problems. [Bruce Epperly, 1 Jan 1979].
