Abstract

Even after the one-hundredth anniversary of his birth, the the theology of Rudolf Bultmann continues to be a determinative force in all serious study of the New Testament. As no previously published work has done, this volume provides a context for understanding Bultmann's controversial demythologizing and existentialist interpretations of the Christian faith. These fresh translations of Bultmann's seminal essays include both the complete text of Bultmann's reply to his critics of 1952, and the hitherto unpublished essay "Theology as Science."
