Abstract
This paper argues a possible contribution of Dong-Hak, one
of the greatest religious and social movements in the history of Korea,
to the issue of global ethics. Dong-Hak presents an organic link between human
beings, the world, and God with the panentheistic ideas and speaks of an
imperative moral ethic with the cosmopolitan spirituality. This paper discusses
Dong-Hak’s theological sources for a socio-religious ethic in a global
dimension that is different from the previous approaches of the traditional
Christian supernaturalistic theism, modern atheism, and eastern religious
immanentism to the contemporary crisis caused by the market globalization and
its neo-liberal ideology.
