Abstract

Author claims that process philosophy, particularly as explicated by A.N. Whitehead, provides a valuable metaphysical framework for understanding and working with families. He describes Whitehead’s basic metaphysical perspective and applies it to the issues of continuing marriage versus divorcing; and holds that the psychotherapist’s own orientation and values are important factors in clinical work with couples facing such decisions.
