Berndtson, Arthur.  “A Theory of Radical Creativity.”  The Modern Schoolman 53 (Nov. 1975): 1-18.

Abstract

(1) Evaluation of Nietzsche, Bergson, Whitehead on creativity.  (2) Creatures: five requirements.  Substances are not creatures; positions are creatures with minimal novelty; forms are principal creatures.  (3) Creators: five requirements.  Power meets them.  Matter and mind are not basic creators.  (4) Creative acts: no technique or explanation.  Creation of forms requires plurality of powers and resistance.  Created forms serve further acts of creation by setting limits and providing direction; they are secondary creators.  (5) Creativity: consists of powers and forms in creative acts.  (6) Timeless beings: transcendent universals and deity; impair creativity.  [Abstract from The Philosopher’s Index]
