Beardslee, William A. Margins of Belonging: Essays on the New Testament and Theology. Atlanta, GA: Scholars Press, 1991.
Abstract
This work records William A. Beardslee's
engagement, for more than three decades, with the interpretation of the
New Testament. Gathered from a variety of journals and previous
publications, these essays demonstrate how Beardslee's appropriation of
Whiteheadian or process categories to the tasks of the New Testament
interpreter enabled him to see the contemporary world and its problems
through the eyes of the New Testament. Offering an alternative to an
either/or choice between theology and biblical interpretation, between
deconstruction and a rigid adherence to an unrecoverable past, these
essays present a lively and provocative challenge to students of
process theology and the literary criticism of the New Testament alike.
