Memorial for Vern Visick

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Vern Visick. On June 18, 2017, Vern died peacefully in his sleep after a brief kidney infection.

Over the past few years, Vern was a driving force behind much of our work here at the Center for Process Studies. He was a key organizer in the 2015 Conference “Seizing an Alternative: Toward an Ecological Civilization," and in the years following continued to provide leadership through the creation and development of EcoCiv

Vern was a very learned man, having earned his Ph.D. in Ethics and Society from the University of Chicago. He was an ordained minister in the United Methodist Church and spent most of his career as a campus minister, serving on the staff of Madison Campus Ministry (MCM) for twenty-three years. He was also a fellow of the Au Sable Institute for Environmental Studies and a member of the Society for Christian Ethics. Vern had a unique ability to bring together "big ideas" and "practical actions" toward justice for the planet and the marginalized. It is an understatement to say that Vern will be greatly missed.

A memorial service for Vern will be held on July 12, 3:30pm at Decker Hall, Pilgrim Place, Claremont, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Agenda for a Prophetic Faith, P.O. Box 517, Claremont, CA 91711 or agendaforapropheticfaith.com.
